Tie Down Straps (also called lashing straps or Tie Downs) are fasteners to hold down cargo or equipment during transport. Tie Down Straps are generally pieces of webbing fitted with a ternsioning device, either a Ratchet Buckle (most commonly used), Cam Buckle or Over centre Buckle.
There are two basic types of Tie Downs.
First one consisits of two pieces of webbing called a tailpiece (short section attached to the tensioning device) and the strap (adjustable long section) both having end fittings at either end. These are simply used by attaching the end fittings to either side of the load to be secured and adjust the webbing and then operate the tensioning device.
Second one consisits of only one piece of webbing attached directly to the tensioning device (commonly called endless). The webbing is simply looped around the article to be secured and back into the tensioning device and then operate this as normal.
